Here’s a supercell from the archives! This stacked plate beast had everything you’d look for in a supercell. From interesting and unique structure to big time weather impacts — this storm had it all.
This cell initially formed in NW Oklahoma and tracked very slowly south and east into the Oklahoma City metro area on a late May afternoon. This cell produced larger than softball size hail in Piedmont and a tornado north of Yukon.
This area was more unpopulated back in 2012 when this cell happened, a storm doing this same thing today would likely cause millions and millions of dollars in damage!
